Aerogel is a solid form of matter, the least dense solid in the world. The density is 3kg/ m3. The common aerogel is silicon aerogel, which was first developed by the American scientist Kistler in 1931. There are many kinds of aerogel, including silicon, carbon, sulfur, metal oxide, metal and so on. aerogel is a combinatorial word, where aero is an adjective meaning to fly, and gel is obviously a gel. It literally means a gel that can fly. gel of any substance can be called aerogel as long as it can be dried to remove the internal solvent, but also can basically keep its shape unchanged, and the product has high porosity and low density.
Aerogel Insulation Blanket is made by special technics, in which nano silica aerogel is adopted as leading material. It is a flexible composite blanket designed for high-temperature applications(up to 600C/1150F), with thermal performance two to eight times greater than other high-temperature insulating materials.
It is available in multiple thicknesses up to 10 millimeters, and can be used as thermal insulation in buildings and industrial insulation. It is particularly well-suited for applications that require a thin product that can be easily cut, rolled and shaped on the job site. 1. Which kind of aerogel do you have?
We have two series for Aerogel Blanket: One is DRT06 Series, Other is DRT02 Series:
DRT06, It was Aerogel insulation blanket with fiberglass, similar to Pyrogel XT and Spaceloft ( mainly used for the hot &heat insulation and building insulation, working temperature from -200ºC to 650ºC), the thermal conductivity from 0.018-0.023 W/m.k DRT02. Aerogel insulation blanket with Aluminium foil, similar to Cryogel Z ( mainly used for the cold insulation, such as LNG,Working temperature from -190ºC-150ºC ),the thermal conductivity from 0.019-0.021 W/m.k
